So, for all of those of you out there motivated to start a juice cleanse or want to do some sort of detox for the beginning of the Spring season, but you feel you are unable to cope without eating solids or stopping your daily routine. Here is a simplified little cleanse that everyone can do and it will get you off to a good start.
The cleanse involves eating the whole papaya… but before we get to it, let me tell you a little about the amazing fruit!
So I am sure you have always heard about papaya for “constipation” and while yes it does help with digestion and bloating….. It actually serves MANY more purposes than that.
As we get older, our body produce less enzymes to break down protein. Papaya is rich in papain and chymopapain which helps the digestion process. Papaya can be very useful to break down proteins from the food we eat into amino acids. It helps to clear bad bacteria in the colon and therefore creates good bacteria in the stomach (its good to have a lot of papaya when finishing a course of antibiotics)
Papaya has antiseptic properties and helps prevent the proliferation of harmful bacteria in the gut. Papaya helps normalize the pH of the intestine.
Papaya is also rich in antioxidants which helps with cholesterol oxidation and can help against heart attacks and strokes. So those blessed with heart disease genes had best start eating papaya on a daily basis!
Papain helps with cancer therapy side effects. Free Radicals are largely in disease such as diabetes, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Cancer – which Papaya can help with.
Papaya helps with nausea and also can help women with morning sickness as well as . For women who have irregular menstrual cycles, raw papaya juice is also supposed to help with that.
For a long time now I have been using fresh fruits and veggies for face masks (instead of store bought ones) and papaya is actually one of the best face masks you can use EVER!
It has AHA (alpha hydroxy acids) which many companies now put into their chemically made face masks for their Anti-aging properties. It will help to remove blemishes and pigmentation as well. Just mix the papaya either with milk or honey and leave it on for 5 minutes before rinsing off.
Now getting back to the cleanse:
You should start by doing this for 5- 7 days. I generally have this in the morning time…. But be prepared to run to the bathroom!
Directions: Take all the ingredients of a papaya and blend it into a juice. Many of you who have know about papaya, it makes a very thick juice. So you do add water to liquefy it a bit.
Please note that the skin, and the seeds are extremely bitter, and they will almost leave a stinging sensation in your lips. Actually, I am not going to lie….. it tastes plain out horrible!!!! I have about 8 ounces for 7 days.
You will be amazed at the results.
